Maria Innocentia Hummel wurde als Berta Hummel, am 21. Mai 1909 in Massing geboren. Schon als junges Mädchen zeichnete sich ein künstlerisches Talent bei Ihr ab, indem Sie oft Karikaturen von Klassenkameraden und Lehrern zeichnete.

Sie studierte 1927 an der Akademie für Angewandte Kunst in München, doch trat 1931 dem Franziskaner Kloster in Sießen bei. 1933 wurde Sie eingekleidet und bekam den Namen Maria Innocetia.

Als der Inhaber der W. Goebel Porzellanfabrik in Oeslau, Herr Franz Goebel, ein Buch mit Motiven von Frau Hummel sah, war er so sehr von den Zeichnungen begeistert, dass er diese mit seiner Manufaktur greifbar machen wollte.

Collectable porcelain figurines from the Göbel company

Maria Innocentia Hummel was born as Berta Hummel on 21 May 1909 in Massing. Already as a young girl she showed an artistic talent by drawing caricatures of her classmates and teachers.

She studied at the Academy of Applied Arts in Munich in 1927, but joined the Franciscan convent in Sießen in 1931. In 1933 she was clothed and given the name Maria Innocetia.

When the owner of the W. Goebel porcelain factory in Oeslau, Mr Franz Goebel, saw a book with motifs by Mrs Hummel, he was so enthusiastic about the drawings that he wanted to make them tangible with his manufactory.
