Allgemeines zur Serie

Die Ausgabe der 10 Euro Gedenkmünzen begann 2002 in thematischer Fortsetzung der

10 DM Gedenkmünzen(1972 – 2001). Die Münzen wurden in 925er Silber, ab 2011 in 625er (PP) und Kupfer-Nickel (st) verausgabt. Die Serie endete 2015 mit der Ausgabe zum 500. Geburtstag von Lukas Cranach dem Jüngeren. Ab 2016 setzen die neuen 20 Euro Gedenkmünze in Silber die Serie thematisch fort. Alle Münzen wurden jeweils nur von einer Prägestätte gemünzt. Die Ausnahme bilden die Ausgaben zur Fußball-WM sowie einigen weiteren Sportereignissen. Diese wurden von allen 5 Prägestätten zu gleichen Teilen herausgegeben. Eine weitere Ausnahme bildet die Ausgabe der 25 Euro Münze 2015 25 Jahre Deutsche Einheit, welche in Feinsilber und ebenfalls von allen 5 Prägestätten verausgabt wurde.

General information about the series

The issue of the 10 Euro commemorative coins started in 2002 in thematic continuation of the

10 DM commemorative coins (1972 - 2001). The coins were issued in 925 silver, from 2011 in 625 (PP) and copper-nickel (st). The series ended in 2015 with the issue commemorating the 500th birthday of Lukas Cranach the Younger. From 2016, the new 20 euro commemorative coins in silver continue the series thematically. All coins were minted by only one mint. The exceptions are the issues for the World Cup and some other sporting events. These were issued by all 5 mints in equal parts. Another exception is the issue of the 25 Euro coin 2015 25 Years of German Unity, which was issued in fine silver and also by all 5 mints.
